The book is so off the wall colorful and explicit. I just had to
RQM is an emcee that we've mentioned quiet a bit here on Bloggertronix, a cerebral lyricist who has worked in the past with other eclectic, electro-hiphop, bass tainted groups such as Europe's Jahcoozi, Milanese, Al haca & The Tape. Last year he released his first solo effort, a feisty little joint entitled 'Miss Pacman' that was put out by Shir Khan's imprint 'Exploited', the track got some serious support from DJ Sinden & BBC1's Maryanne Hobbs amongst others.
Currently based in Barcelona RQM is set to drop his second solo, digital release 'Barely Evil', with remixes by a whole slew of top notch talent including Stereotyp, Bass Weazal & Filewile (Check out his site to hear the latter Tropical flavoured remix streaming!)

'Barely Evil' will be released by OMG! Recordings on August 3rd. At the end of August another of RQM's tracks, 'Lover's Voodoo' will be featured on a compilation called 'Basss Brains', the release will also feature tunes by CLP, Jahcoozi, Puppetmastaz, datamc & Lexie lee plus loads more...Be sure to cop yours!

RQM INTERVIEW:
Bloggertronix - 'Barely Evil' is a pretty sexy little joint, what inspired the track?
RQM - Well the tune is actually a part of a whole sequence of tracks that
I wrote about love and relationships. The first track that came out was
Miss Pacman and it dealt with the stereotypical fun recklessness of sex,
drugs and club music. Barely Evil is in a sense a close up shot of Miss
Pacman, being that it's a portrait of THE club girl icon personified by the
bubble gum chewing, coke snorting, head giving Roller Girl.

She's practically in all the music mags, music videos, the fashion spreads,
she's the front woman of a lot of contemporary music projects - in a sense
she's ubiquitous. And if we're talking club culture all you have to do is
check the lastnightsparty portal and you'll see her practically on every
single picture. But I gotta give it up to the artist Tilt cause it was his
photo/graff book Bubble Girls that gave me the final push to write this
song.

paint my own picture of miss nasty and that's how the song was born. Big
ups to Tilt! I hope one day I have the budget so that we can collab and
finally do this video!
B - How did you hook up with Marvin Suggs to create the original track?
R - You know how they say that there are six degrees separating you from
every other person on this planet? I think in the music world it's down to
only 3 and when you live in Berlin and you're a musician it's only two. In
the end it was all natural connect the dots.
B - The remixes for the song are pretty varied in vibe...How did you pick
the remix artists?
R - When I got the files to the song I just sent em out to all my peoples
and a lot of them answered off the bat and said they wanted to take a jab
at it. It was hella hard getting the final versions back and the
consolidating the final playlist because in the end there were a bunch of
tunes that didn't make the final cut that were type large!
B - You've been away from Berlin your original home-base for a second, How
has being in Barcelona affected your music making?
R - I love the sound of Berlin, but at the same time I hate how monochrome
and one sided it can be at times. So it was good for me as an artist to
step out of that bubble and submerge myself in a completely new soundscape.
While living here in Barcelona I noticed that lot of the darker shades of
music that I used to listen to in Bln just didn't sound right in this
context, but instead a lot of other styles did. I think more color crept
into my stereo. I was also tired of trying to keep up with the pace of
music consumption dictated by the blogs so instead I stopped trying and I
dug out all my favorite records from back in the day and really listened to
them to see why I loved them so much. It was a great experience and it
showed me that good music really stands the test of time. I think the next
batch of tunes that I'll release will have more color and life in them or
at least I hope that it will.
B - Plans for the rest of the year...more singles? A full length?
R - I still have a few more tracks from this love and relationships series
that I want to release. And in the meantime I'll be recording newness with
the aim of finishing a full length album, but with no concrete deadlines in
mind. As always I just want to take it one tune at a time.
