Man Like Me - London
MAN LIKE ME - LONDON SPOTLIGHT
Man Like Me is a deadly outfit based in London that I had the pleasure of seeing live last year in Archway.
The band creates top notch fun tunes, electro-pop-grime, mash-up madness at its best.
OH MY GOSH!
Johnny, the bands lanky, lean, fiesty frontman is full of animated character and energy. Clad in Baggy pants, shiny beaded necklaces, and scarves, he hits the stage with gusto, belting out brash, humor filled lyrics, like those in the song 'Doughnut' a tune about an ex-girlfriend with not a lot going on up top...she's what we call whatless in the UK, and clueless Stateside....a doughnut..."You see you're just a sweet sticky roll, but inside there's no jam, just a hole".
Johnny's band consists of prized knob twiddler PESK, and synth vocal wonder, Ed Laliq (check out this lads solo debut - 'Prime Penny Gaff' released last year on Berlin's Kitty-Yo....It's just a tiny bit SICK ;0)
Man Like Me have yet to release a full length, but plan to do so later this year. Right now they're shooting a video for the song 'Jamie T', a skippy, whistle along track about Johnnys mounting paranoia, as he thinks about his girlfriend hooking up with popular UK based singer Jamie T.
The band recently returned back to London from a trip to the USA where Johnny says the crowds were "so much more on having a good time and shokin out"...Hummmmmm...?! Sounds like fun to me!
MLM plan to head back to the states for a wee tour in June...till then check out the bits $ bobs below -
